Art Tatum

Art Tatum was a jazz pianist and is widely regarded as one of the greatest jazz musicians who ever lived. Born in Toledo in 1909, Tatum was legally blind and largely self-taught. He memorized entire piano rolls and was well-known for his improvisational skills. It was often said that those who listened to Tatum’s records thought they were listening to two piano players.
